Am 28.Mai fand im Leipziger Pösna-Park zum 6.Male der Städtewettkampf zwischen Magdeburger und Leipziger Grundschulkindern in schöner Atmosphäre mit Pizza- und Eisessen statt. Gespielt wurden 6 Schnellschach-Runden an 25 Brettern, wobei jeweils Blöcke zu je 6 Spielern gebildet wurden. So spielten die ersten 6 Bretter je 1 Runde gegeneinander, das gleiche taten die Bretter 7-12, u.s.w.
Aus Magdeburg waren 11 Kinder vom USC und 14 Schachzwerge dabei. Schnell stellte sich heraus, dass die Magdeburger Grundschulkinder an den ersten 12 Brettern besser waren, jedoch es an den hinteren Brettern einen Klassenunterschied gab, weil es für viele Magdeburger Kinder ihr allererstes Turnier war. Und so siegten die Leipziger im Städtevergleich am Ende mit 98,5 : 51,5.
Die Revanche könnte es aber schon in diesem Jahr im Magdeburger Flora-Park geben.
